The Bonner County Sheriff misses the good ol’ days of Ruby Ridge. Ya know, simpler times, when you could roll into an isolated Idaho cabin with tanks and shoot kids and Moms carrying their new born babies.
In an effort to recreate the good ol days, Daryl Wheeler and his boys headed up to Coolin, Idaho to serve an arrest warrant on Craig Johnson. They had to arrest him because they came to his cabin a few days earlier without asking, and for no apparent crime, and Craig pulled out a gun. Wow. Surprise, surprise, a person who just wants to be left alone in rural Idaho pulls a gun out when unknown people come on his secluded wooded property. My two year old could have figured out that was going to happen. “Tell me the story again papa! You know the one about the idiot cops who do the same thing over and over again and expect different results!”
“Of course son! Let me tell it again!” Two days later, the cops arrive in a bearcat armored vehicle – AKA a tank. Oh yeah, and snipers. Sound familiar? If not, just give Randy Weaver a call. So, the man exits the house, and the police shoot him the back.
When asked about the incident, Daryl Wheeler reported that they were attempting to recreate the Ruby Ridge incident from 1992, “You’re familiar with civil war reenactors – well we’re Randy Weaver and David Karesh reenactors. We just do it with live ammunition. We got Craig Johnson to play Randy that day and we played the FBI. Heck of a time.”
“We were really hoping for a scenario where we could shoot a dog, and perhaps some women and children, but that opportunity just didn’t materialize.”
When asked about killing Craig just for a game, Wheeler replied, “You know, we do what we do. We want people to have the authentic Idaho experience, and that involves white people with guns killing other white people with guns.”
Craig’s wife couldn’t believe it and filed a public records request for the video of the shooting. The Bonner County Sheriff denied the request.
“You know, we can’t have citizens out there second guessing our great work,” Wheeler said. “Just because she’s his wife, and we shot him in the back, doesn’t mean she has a right to know how it happened. She needs to trust us that we did the right thing by shooting him in the back.”
Lon Horiuchi, the sniper that shot Randy Weaver in the back while carrying his dead son agrees, “Wheeler and his team did a hell of a job. Just because they have their back turned doesn’t mean they don’t have an automatic weapon protruding out their asshole that could take you down in a second. In my situation, Randy was carrying his dead son. So what? Dead people kill people all the time.”
“Besides,” Wheeler said, “The law doesn’t require us to release video while there’s an ongoing investigation. In this case, Johnson is still a suspect, and we need to follow up on this case.” When challenged that Johnson is dead, Wheeler stated,”He is dead when I tell you he’s dead. Right now I can’t confirm or deny that.”
“I’ll tell you this much though – Hell of a time on that bearcat. Can’t wait to play Ruby Ridge again. It really brings you back, you know?”
