On Friday, February 22nd, 2019, Manus, a beautiful German Shepherd, who reached into the heart and other fleshy areas of Kootenai County residents was laid to rest. Manus was known for being a gentle and loving dog unless he wasn’t, which in case he would maul your face off.

In 2015, Manus was out and about with his handler Deputy Rich Lyons when he was brought to a traffic stop with Deputy Joshua Leyk and Officer Jake Pleger. There, a citizen was stopped and asked to put his hands out the window. He complied. He was also following the law by wearing his seatbelt. Next the officers asked the citizen to exit the vehicle. So the citizen reached down to unbuckle his seatbelt to exit the vehicle. BOOM! Manus is on top of him ripping his left arm off.

Just in case you didn’t catch that. Citizen is complying with officer by having his hands out the window. Citizen is commanded to exit the vehicle but is wearing his seatbelt – like he’s supposed to be. Citizen goes to unbuckle his seatbelt to exit the vehicle like the Deputy asked, and Manus mauls the guy.

So who is the hero and who is the victim of this tale? Well obviously the hero is Manus, the cuddly canine who just wants to have fun and do what his daddy Deputy Lyons tells him. The mangled left arm – just a flesh wound! Nothing years of surgeries and physical therapy won’t fix.

Take a look at the Lawsuit against Sheriff Wolfinger, Chief Lee White, Deputy Rich Lyons, Officer Jake Pleger, Deputy Joshua Leyk, and Officer Spencer Mortensen.

Well thank God that KREM 2 is around to give our hero Manus the send off he deserves. A K9 Officer that has worked so hard to maim, maul, and chew up the people of Kootenai County should have the attention and respect of the entire Inland Northwest. Thank you KREM 2 for standing up for a true hero.

Ben Wolfinger then brings a tear to our eye with his touching tribute to Manus:

He was a loyal and courageous partner to Deputy Lyons. When Deputy Lyons would ask him to do something that he wasn’t strong or brave enough to do, Manus did it with a smile. I could tell he was smiling because he would show a lot of teeth. Sometimes I would see Rich out biting a community member’s arm, and I’d laugh. There goes Manus. Training his human again. What a guy.

It’s with heavy hearts we must say goodbye to Manus. He leaves behind a great legacy though. A legacy of human flesh and blood. We will miss you our Friend and Beast.

As Manus flies into heaven, it is time for us to fly to Germany to find another amazing beast descended from the great shepherds of the Gestapo. Manus, you have made your place in history. It is time for another viscous Aryan animal to take your place. Rest in Peace. Sieg Heil my beloved. Sieg Heil.
